Description

Love Crescent Rink is built and maintained by the community. With a little help for Toronto Parks and Rec we will flood a portion of the park to create a place for the community to get together and enjoy on of Canada's great traditions. Come here to get information, post your own event and schedules for flooding and maintenance. Feel free to post photos, comments and invite those we have yet to meet.

This winter we have waited quite some time for snow. So much so that when it finally came I truly felt like a kid again. I discovered how much I love sledding in -25 weather (just wear your snow pants, hot pockets and scarfs!). My son felt that I was a hero - out there in the cold, racing up the hill. It is a great way to get exhilarating exercise (something that treadmills just can't give you). Given that I was pregnant last winter I was excited to have some cold thrills again, ones that were not permitted last winter.

My husband Rob decided that this was the year we had to have a backyard rink. I had been telling him for years I didn't want a backyard rink. I said "it will ruin the grass". "It will be a sloppy mess"

Hey everyone... Just signing into the group as me instead of an administrator so my name is visible. Thinking it might be nice if everyone put a shot of themselves in their avatar so we can recognize each other when we are outside :-)

Did some sourcing of the materials to build the rink and it looks like it will be around $600. We are thinking that getting $40 per family would cover the costs and if we raise more we can look at spending the money on other goodies.

I hope everything goes smoothly and you all enjoy the rink this winter. Unfortunately I won't be around to help or enjoy it. Hannah and I are moving to Nova Scotia in early December.

Yes, I'm Tim, I was registered with an incorrect user name that was copied out of the CC field of an earlier email list. I couldn't figure out a way to become Tim.

Have a great trip and move to Nova Scotia. Best of luck.

Cheers Kari

Opps, sorry Tim... made a typo on that one. Sorry you won't be around to enjoy the rink, but best of luck in NS.

It looks like the water connection has been done and is only waiting for turf boxes to be installed. We will start ramping up planning soon.
