Fairy (butterfly) House

We missed playgroup this week because the baby still had a fever and was fussy from getting her immunizations the day before. So this afternoon the kids and I went outside and built our house. I told them we were building it for a butterfly. I assembled the stones and they did the rest. My kids are only 5 (in a few weeks) and 2 1/2 so their skills are limited. But it still made them think. My son put a pillow and blanket inside made from leaves. He put an acorn top as a cup of water for the butterfly to drink. He came up with those things on his own. When we were done a butterfly came by and the kids tried their best to entice the butterfly into the house we built, but it didn't care. I think it would be nice to build these houses in different seasons.
Playgroup 6/23/2010

We had a good group of kids at the park today. I think most moms tried to get there early before it got too hot and humid because there were already lots of kids when we got there right after 9:30 am . Some kids were there to play before their swim lessons at then city pool, which is across the parking lot.
My baby slept most of the time we were there so I was able to push my daughter on the bucket swings hands free. She was shy at first because of all the little kids who were there but she warmed up to them after a while. We stayed there until about 11:30 and I've learned that I need to take extra fluids when it's this hot because my kids quickly finished what was in their Klean Kanteens and wanted more while we were there. Maybe I'll take our little cooler next time filled with extra drinks.
Join us for summer playgroup at Beal Park
Summer is here! Please join us for weekly playgroup at Beal Park. The official playgroup time is 9:30 -10:30 am, but if you need to come a little earlier or later that also works. I have three little ones, including a baby born in April so I don't always make it there on time. We usually end up staying until at least 11 am.

My son has always been agile and loves to climb all over the play set.
I like to dress my son in brightly colored clothes so I can find him easily at the park.
