The field of early childhood education has been my passion for more than 30 years. After working at a preschool for 23 years as the supervisor/manager/ece I have opened an outdoor play group called Stomping in the Mud. Check out our blog site to learn more about the play group stompinginthemud.blogspot.com Dianne
Stomping In The Mud Play Group Victoria, B.C. Canada
How Stomping in the Mud Play Group started ? Stomping in the Mud Play Group came to me one night as I lay awake..... I was delighted that I would be looking after my little granddaughter, when my daughter returned to work in September. I knew that I would want friends for A to play with ..... Why not an outdoor play group in our back yard ? So, after many hours of hard work over the summer, with my husband, we created Stomping in the Mud play group in our side yard. I opened September 2011. After many years as an early childhood educator this was a new 'hat' for me to wear. I am happy to say that as of April 2012, I have hired another ece to work with me and have a wait list.
Stomping in the Mud Play Group is a rich natural outdoor play environment where children 1 1/2 years to 5 years old will have the opportunity to play outside rain or shine. Play opportunities include a large sand pit to dig in, a mud kitchen for making mud pies, a hill to roll down, bushes to hide in, logs to climb, a chance to 'live in the moment', socialize with their peers, grow independently and become a self-directed individual.
