Rainy Day

The kids expanded one huge puddle by getting water from another puddle and digging canals. They sat down in the middle of the puddle and built from there.

Peter's clothes went in the washer as soon as we came home. I don't think the kids felt cold until they stopped playing whereas hot coffee/chocolate wasn't quite enough to keep the parents warm on a chilly and humid day:-)

Sunny day in the Beach

Posted by Kari
We had a wonderful day at the Beach, with sunshine and blue skies. How lucky we are to live here in the Beach in Toronto. Last Wednesday we did get creative with rocks. We were inspired by Gwynneth-Beasley great post about Making art outside

Both parents and kids were very creative. Erica and her son made wonderful art work

My daughter wrote her name and made a spiral

Making a channel is always fun for boys and girls

Rainy Day in the Beach

Posted by Kari

A lot of times we do get questions about what do you do on rainy days and often less kids and parents shows up when we meet. Funny enough it is on rainy day fun things happen in our outdoor playgroup. And yes today it was rainy pretty hard. But look how fun they had and what parents are saying.

Eleana:Mostly jumping in puddles .. always a winner. Then Russell, M,P  and I went out to lunch.

Erica: We stayed by the Gazebo. There were many many deep puddles that the kids and adult played it. Also helped Maia make Monster pies.

Russell: The puddles were very deep and gave a great supply of mud and rocks. Apparently the main ingredients for Monster Pies... Of course topped with moss and sticks. How could a monster resist. It was raining pretty hard when we left the house, but let up (sadly). At least there were good puddles.

Voila you have Monster pie !

Susana raised $9800 for Medecins sans Frontieres. We were happy to participate in the event. Emily,Cordelia and Elena baked cupcakes.- While others ate cupcakes.

As Russell said on his FB:
"On one small patch of front lawn in the east end of Toronto, on a chilly Saturday, $9800 was raised for Haiti relief. What Susana Molinolo sold were just cupcakes (don't get me wrong they were yummy). What the people who bought them ate was a symbol of community building and the ability of people to come together for a... much-needed cause without a lot of glitzy pomp. Simple, effective and every neighborhood could do something like this."
