Post-Blizzard Play
Blizzard and about 2+ feet of snow in central Illinois - means snow days and snow play. We built an awesome snow tunnel/slide - hoping it will still be there for this weekend's neighborhood play.
Forts and cones and snowmen, oh my!
I have finally found the toy that occupies my 3 year old child for hours! Snow! OK - maybe not for hours, but at least for 45 minutes! She spent most of the time making bootprints and raking the snow so the deer could find their food (read this in a book). She did pause that action for a bit to ask for a snow ice cream cone. We get the tiny cones and she scoops up snow (the white kind only) and licks away. We (read: I) also made a snowman and a snow wall/fort under a tree decorated with popcorn garland and christmas lights that I have yet to take down. It's our snow patio. We had a snow picnic and left bread for the birds, with the hope that we'll be able to come out and sit behind our snow wall and watch them eat it. I tried unsuccessfully to upload a photo, so you'll just have to use your imaginations...
Hedgewood Playdate - December TBA

Had a great time at our November playdate - digging worms, bean bag toss, balloon badminton, rock "kerplunk" in the creek - and that was just Lia and I! Thanks to the folks who brought us snacks - look forward to playing with you soon. December playdate coming...

Feeding the fish and ducks
Had a great time feeding the fish, and the few ducks and geese that were left at the lake. We've done this almost every week since summer started, and Lia never seems to get tired of it. Today we had friends join us and we all had fun watching the catfish jump out of the water to catch pieces of bread. Then we went and did our own jumping at the playground...

When, where and you are going to meet and weather guidelines, and age group. Meetings at neighborhood park or homes for 0-6 age range. Goal is to get out as much as possible in the winter and of course other seasons but focusing on winter activities as we get closer to that time...
