This is me

I am a Nana (Nana Banana), the youngest of my grandchildren are 19 months old twins, Chase & Jenny. I want more time to play with them outdoors and also want to create more time for others parents, grandparents, babies and young children to #playoutdoors together and create new experiences in community.

Drip, Drop & Plop!

On Monday, March 22 the Etobicoke Play Group met at Lorahill Park for some fun in the rain. I was impressed with all the moms who came out despite the fact that it was raining. My youngest son who just started walking wanted to get into the action. He walked around the playground with me holding him - feet touching the sand for the first time. He kept falling down and each time made it into a opportunity to grab and eat sand. Mucky, drippy fun.

I got a great idea from a post on Active Kids Club about making fairy houses so I put the kids to work gathering sticks and other stuff that they deemed suitable. I am not going to lie to you - there was some outrage over stealing of sticks etc. The boys all seemed to have various melt downs over sticks, buckets etc. but we rebounded with a game of hide the bucket.

We put in an hour and half in total and were wet, cold and muddy by the time we left. The hot chocolate tasted so good when we were warm and cosy inside our house afterwards. Isn't that the best? Our kids I am sure thought we were rock star parents for playing in the rain.
