Leaf Shirt
We had some friends over today in our yard, kind of a rescheduling of events because it was raining last Thursday. We still got outside on Thursday, but we were unable to do this craft. We gathered leaves and then the kids assembled them, along with sticks and whatever else they wanted, on t-shirts.
Make Fall Scarecrows
This weekend we made our garden ready for fall. We planted mums and kale for our garden and decorated our garden with scarecrows. As always we try to keep this fun for the kids. This time we made fall scarecrows out of old kids clothing, and picked leaves in our backyard for to fill our scarecrows with.
Beach Craft from Courtney
I wish I had some action shots, but I was too covered in plaster of paris to take pictures! We had a wonderful turnout today- 33 people including 2 adorable little sibling additions to the playgroup- our youngest attendee was 6 weeks old! Today we met at the beach where we collected rocks and shells and other found objects to use in some plaster sand castings. The kids found some creative things to put in there- a lego, bottle caps, a stray crab leg.

We managed to fill an entire weekend based around building pumpkin scarecrows. It was a perfect combination of playing, house chore, family outing, harvesting and lots of arts and crafts.
Make, fly a kite!
Fall can still give us warm and windy days that are perfect for kite flying. In Toronto last Saturday we attended an event called Windfest.It was a great event, though the bad weather was not collaborating. I learned that when it comes to flying kites there is such a thing as bad weather; rain makes it very hard to fly a kite
