10 fun rainy day activities
Recently, a magazine interviewed me about how children deal with being outside in all kinds of weather. The question reminded me that I have yet to meet a child who didn’t love puddles. I think children learn from us adults that rainy days and mud are “yucky”. Do you remember your best childhood memory? Maybe it was set in the middle of a big muddy puddle. My favorite memory was making channels and little streams out of puddles.

Leaf Shirt
We had some friends over today in our yard, kind of a rescheduling of events because it was raining last Thursday. We still got outside on Thursday, but we were unable to do this craft. We gathered leaves and then the kids assembled them, along with sticks and whatever else they wanted, on t-shirts.
Saffron buns / Lucia buns
Every year around Christmas time we will celebrate Santa Lucia, a Scandinanavian tradition. On the morning of the 13th of December, kids will dress up in white robes with garlands and candles and sing the Santa Lucia song and serve Santa Lucia buns.A fun part of the tradition is to bake Santa Lucia buns with the kids; it is just like working with play dough, but you get something tasty out of it.
Go outside and play, be safe and wear a reflex

Activekidsclub.com is passionate about getting kids and adults outdoors, in their neighborhoods and in nature. We think being outdoors is a lifestyle we choose, every day, whether you live in an urban setting or country style. Biking, walking and playing in our communities and being connected to your neighborhoods are an important part of a healthy active lifestyle.
Heart hunt
Remember getting in some outdoor time doesn't have to be hard. Walking to school or to other activities also counts. Being visible this time of year is important for both kids and adults and can prevent accidents. So please wear a safety reflector heart and be safe on the road.
