The Great Garden Adventure – my little girls dream
By Kristen Maxwell
The Great Garden Adventure is created by POINT, People and Organizations in
North Toronto, and runs out of the North Toronto Community Centre twice weekly. It is a free interactive gardening program for kids aged 3 to 7.
My daughter and I participated for the first time last week and it was so much fun for us! She got to dig in the dirt, plant seeds, water and even go on a scavenger hunt. The staff was excellent in teaching us about the gardens ecosystem. The activities were age appropriate and conveyed knowledge in a manner that was intriguing and tactile.
It is just perfect for a girl who likes to get dirty and touch the ooey gooey of an Aloe vera plant. It is amazing how much she enjoy watering, weeding, composting and garden creatures…
To join in the program, which runs from July 8th – August 28th, call 416-487-2390
See you in the garden.

For other locations in Toronto try The Children’s Gardens program at High Park and Waterfront. Toronto Botanical Garden also offers various gardening programs. One hot tip is to visit the Brick Works on a Saturday morning, great food but also drop in gardening programs for kids.
The Children's Garden Program at High Park and Waterfront available from mid-May to the end of June and from mid-September to early October.
For registration see their website. The Children’s Garden Program at High Park starts drop in programs July 3rd every Thursday morning.

Brick Works Farmers Market
This is a great market, running from May 24th until December 13th (8 am to 1 pm), but is much more than a market.
We love their children’s program where they teach children about the natural surroundings with a hands-on approach.
Make this trip even more memorable for you, your family and friends. Walk or bike though Toronto’s fantastic ravine system.
