Squirrel's and Nuts

By Mark Clements
Sometimes as a parent, we are tasked with entertaining a large group of younger kids. Duck Duck Goose is no longer a popular option, Red Rover is dangerous if kids get too worked up, and freeze tag gets old pretty quickly and favors faster children. That might leave you at a loss for the perfect game to play. Have no fear! There is a cheap and viable party game option at your fingertips! The game is called squirrels and nuts, and there is no way in the world that you have ever heard of it. Despite the long article, this game is very simple to learn, set-up, and play.

Beach Stone game

beachgame1Last Wednesday in the outdoor playgroup at the Beach, Debra and her daughter shared a new beach game. This game was invented one day when they did not have any beach toys. Funny how boredom makes kids create cool new games.

Summer rain fun

summerrainToronto has been very hot lately with very little rain. We love hot summer days but we do not mind the summer rain. Our garden needs it and we need it. Next time it rains take advantage of the weather and embrace it. (Of course not when there is lighting or severe weather)

Go Play Outside Fortune teller

8 Backyard fun ideas

fortuneteller

In today's post I'm introducing an old favorite childhood toy; the fortuneteller with a twist. Last year I really enjoyed my friend Jen's Kitchen Chronicle's idea I'm bored jar". She suggested a jar with different activities and suggestions in it to get kids up and doing something. With the end of the school year approaching us, I think it would be great to have a tool when that boredom moment hits our kids go give them a little help to get them outside to play. We have tested it this weekend and I can tell you it was a big hit in our house. Making an outdoor fortuneteller is a great activity for kids (Age 7 an up).
