Summer

Go urban picking make a gift and Mulberry icing

One of my childhood memories is picking wild blueberries and lingon berries (if you ever have been on IKEA that is the jam they serve with the meatballs).

Well, living in a big city, the closest I get to wild blueberries is at the farmers market. Nothing wrong with that, but for a wild crafter it is not quite the same. There is something special about harvesting Nature’s bounty.

6 Tips for Camping with Kids

By Beata Antoszek
Summer is coming and many families are preparing for camping trips. But camping can take on many forms, depending on your preferences and budget. Some people like to keep it simple and go tent camping in the backcountry. Others are into expensive RV’s and long road trips. Some, like my family, like going back to the same place every year. My son Mark is very excited to go to our trailer at Red Bay Park on Bruce Peninsula for our vacation. He missed his friends and the playground there.

Outdoor Lanterns

My friend Debra and I had a party 3 years ago in a park in Toronto. Debra used to live in British Columbia and she remembered the wonderful lantern festival there. We invited a few friends with kids for a summer party. It was a gorgeous night and we had so much fun making these magical lanterns together.

Water play

Hitting the beach and pools are great places to go on hot days, but never underestimate the old fashion fun you can have in your backyard with friends from your neighborhood. Or even on a balcony in a high rise. There are lots of water toys that you can buy at the toy store for water play, but you don’t really need special toys to keep cool. Here are few water play ideas.
