Mud pie kitchen

mudkitchen1Believe it or not we do have trends in the #playoutdoors movement, and mud and mud pie kitchens are very popular amongst other bloggers. For some time I have been secretly admiring and thinking about creating our own outdoor play kitchen. My kids love to make dirt soups and mud pies all year round.

Fairy house in a container

fairyhousecontainerfrontWe love and believe in fairies like the children here at Activekidsclub.com. My little girls never get tired of making fairy house. They will make them everywhere; at the park, the beach, the backyard and in the forest. In our house we have two containers by the entrance.

Wildflowers : flower art

One of my first nature discoveries as a child was picking wildflowers. I played with them and brought them proudly to my parents. I was lucky to have parents and grandparents who taught me the names of the flowers and some of the myths that surrounded them. For me picking wildflowers is in many ways a symbol of a childhood in nature.

Outdoor Lanterns

My friend Debra and I had a party 3 years ago in a park in Toronto. Debra used to live in British Columbia and she remembered the wonderful lantern festival there. We invited a few friends with kids for a summer party. It was a gorgeous night and we had so much fun making these magical lanterns together.

Make a Fairy House this summer!!

By Mark Forman
Fairy House Children, parents and grandparents, as well as gardeners and those who care for the environment can all have fun building fairy houses. Constructing these small habitats encourages generational bonding as well as a sense of achievement.
